Ummm, I just had a thought (shocking, I know.) Janeway and Paris were supposed to have "evolved" into newts or salamanders, right? Amphibians don't have sex. In fact, the males and females aren't generally even in the same place when fertilization occurs.

Amphibians also don't tend to fly around at infinite speed. Besides, this is Threshold - surely you don't expect it to make any sense, do you?
