Hell, we've even seen Picard use it, IIRC.

Here's the trailer, albeit in not great camcorderific quality.

I'd like to see it in better quality, but I'll freely admit that it looks awesome to me.

Truth to tell, I liked it more than I thought I would. However, don't the cop's mask and the black captain's jersey look a little darker than one would expect from 'Trek dressing?

The trailer looks a bit naff, but then nearly all of my fave films have crap trailers - also, I've seen great trailers for crap films.
I'm gonna wait for the film before passing judgement.

That cop looks kind of like RoboCop.
One thing that irks me is the shot of the Enterprise being constructed ON Earth!! ON Earth!! Shouldn't they be constructing it in a shipyard in ORBIT??
When I go to see it in May, I'm just going to be seeing a science fiction film that has nothing to do with the Trek Universe we've come to know for the past 40-some years.

I think it's the undershirt.
Varthikes - it was never established in canon that the E-nil was built in orbit.

It's not a canon issue. It just doesn't look right.

I thought that it looked like a dark trooper from SW. just my thought.
Tbh, i can't see it that well, the clarity isn't good enough with the that mish mash of colours, i find it really hard to focus on it. I'ma gonna have to wait for a decent recording.

I know it's a bit redundant, but here's a slightly better quality version.

I gotta say, I'm intrigued. I realize there maybe some hardcore Canon-Nazis outthere who aren't thrilled with it, but Trek needs to appeal to a new audience. "The torch has been passed to a new generation" and I for one am willing to accept the loss of some older generation fans if they manage to revitalize it for a new generation. Nothing personal, it's just what is necessary for Trek to continue both as a Franchise and as a storyline.

A friend of mine who was only really a fan of DS9 called me tonight after seeing Quantum of Solace to tell me how awesome the trailer (that trailer) for Star Trek was. At the least, a large number of casual fans, and probably a good number of non-Trekkers will probably go see this movie. So, Paramount will likely get what they want (and rightly so): a 'Trek movie that makes money.

Hm, not as bad as I thought it would be.

Yeah, it would make far more sense for it to be constructed in space.

Oddly enough, they addressed that point. The reasoning is that because the ship's systems are designed to work in Earth-normal (artificial) gravity, and undergo extreme stress, it makes sense that the instruments would be installed and calibrated in Earth-normal gravity.
Meh. Not really a major issue to me.
