Actually, most sci-fi would probably have fighters to counter enemy bombers. 
Don't forget the Maquis vessels which looked pretty much the same as the Federation fighters that they destroyed a Cardassian Galor.Teaos wrote:I think fighters are mainly to draw enemy fire and annoy the enemy while Capital ships do the damage.
