Indeed. Telepaths present a horrible legal problem. I'm profoundly glad that such metal powers remain firmly in the realms of fantasy.

It is good, it does run off the rails a bit when the Narn start venerating G'Kar as a religious figure but that's a side issue. Season five blows goats though.KuvahMagh wrote:It sounds like I might enjoy B5 if it takes realistic approaches to issues.
Not opinionated in the slightest are we?Cpl Kendall wrote:It is good, it does run off the rails a bit when the Narn start venerating G'Kar as a religious figure but that's a side issue. Pardon me?Reliant121 wrote:

She was. The real problem I had with Five was that B5 wasn't going to be picked up another season, so they shoehorned everything into Four and then they got picked up. So Season Five is mostly filler.i agree though. The new station commander was aweful.
The opinionated bit was for the "blows" bit meant as a joke.Cpl Kendall wrote:Pardon me?Reliant121 wrote:

Because I lost a lot of money in this scinario.GrahamKennedy wrote:Why would you be angry?Blackstar the Chakat wrote:Well, I'd be pissed sure, but I wouldn't count it as cheating.GrahamKennedy wrote:If you played poker with a person and lost heavily, and then discovered that the person was a telepath who had been reading your thoughts all along, would you be bothered?
As far as you know at leastI'm profoundly glad that such metal powers remain firmly in the realms of fantasy.
So you're just a bad loser?Blackstar the Chakat wrote:Because I lost a lot of money in this scinario.
I'd be delighted to be proven wrong. I'm hardly holding my breath though. As far as you know at leastI'm profoundly glad that such metal powers remain firmly in the realms of fantasy.

True, pretty much anytime I remember people being arrested it was under Bajoran law. He had to enforce Starfleet Regulations but I think the Civillian population was bound by Bajoran Law rather than Federation, since it was a Bajoran Station within Bajoran Space and was only being administered by Starfleet.Mikey wrote:Telepaths? Just send the Black Ships for them.
Anyway, to address GK's original point - I attribute it more towards Odo's pragmatic style than a variance in Starfleet's/the UFP's policy on such matters. Odo was not Starfleet, and he worked for a non-UFP government.
And since the Bajoran's never had an issue with telepaths they probably never thought to make up laws regarding them.KuvahMagh wrote:True, pretty much anytime I remember people being arrested it was under Bajoran law.
