Ya know, I was looking through some stuff again and I find it incredibly interesting that apparently the Emperor ensured the time and manner of his arrival on Mars to coincide with the AM myth of the Omnissah. He was supposedly so dead set against religion and yet a pretty substantial case can be made that he kicked off the Great Crusade by intentional trying to pass himself off as the machine messiah to get the AM on his side.

Considering the power the AM has, I can't blame him. I'd sure as hell want the guys who understand how the hell all the tech works on my side.

Yeah, but kicking off your Crusade to rid the galaxy of religion and bring reason to all men by first impersonating a religious figure isn't a great way to start. Then again the Imperium is one big stinking pile of hypocrisy anyways. Why not get it started right off the bat.
