The Eclipse isn't too bad - it's superlaser is weak enough compared the the Death Stars that it's reasonable.

The Sun Crusher, on the other hand... :x

Sun Crusher is just off the charts in terms of what is wrong with the EU. :P

Not quite - not while the incomprehensible shite that is Karen Traviss' writings (and her attitude to everyone who points out there shittyness) exist.

I am unfamiliar with this author. Please elaborate, I sense something hilariously stupid.

Don't ask! When trying to understand what goes on in her mind, "hilariously stupid" quickly becomes "coronary-inducingly frustrating and incomprehensible."

And I only know THAT much from the few examples I had by way of Seafort.

I liked the Sun Crusher. Step up from planet-nuking? Star-destroying in the literal sense.

She thinks that only three million people fought in the Clone Wars. She rabidly defends those numbers, even when people point out to her that having three million soldiers in a galaxy-spanning war is ridiculous. She never stops going on about how uber the Mandalorians were, and even made up a rather ridiculous language for them. In her latest book, she made a cheap jab at Curtis Saxton, and people who pointed out to her the stupidity of her numbers.

So, yeah. Hilariously stupid, and immature.

WTF. I thought the Star Wars EU was managed. Why do they keep publishing her crap?

If you could answer that you'd make a lot of people very grateful.

To add to Rochey's explanation, a big part of the problem with Traviss isn't the idiotic number per se, but her reaction to criticism. "My gut reaction is that they all need garrotting" and talking about "ripping someones trachea out of their pitifully unworthy neck" being two of her more colourful comments.

Let's not forget her referring to people who criticise her books as 'Talifans'.
Seafort is quite right, her books alone aren't the problem, it's the fact that she has all the maturity of a five year old when it comes to criticism.

She used to post at theforce.net message boards and... yeesh. Yeah, any criticism of her work was a basic affront to the sanctity of life, almost.

She's one of the authors for the 'Legacy of the Force' series... and she hates Jedi. Rumor has it-RUMOR-that she cheered during Order 66 at ROTS.

I've heard there was some crap in one of her books about the Jedi Council conspiring with Palpatine to extend the length of the war. Is that true, or just a rumour?

With regards to the original topic of this thread, I'd like to nominate the Omega class destroyers from Babylon 5. Watching some of the DVDs yesterday made me realise just how poorly those things were designed.
Still one of my favourite ships, though. :D

Yes the Omega's did strike me as a little dopey. But if we are going into B5 my vote for the worst design would be the Narn T'loth class heavy cruiser.

Close - they were apparently conspiring to keep the "truth" of the Clone Wars being a "series of minor skirmishes" a secret. Basically yet more of her attempts to justify her figure of 3 million clones.
