History
The Mark V Constitution Class was a refit of the Mark IV refit produced in the 2280s and 2290s. It incorperated numerous advancements made in the 24th century and was increased insize to accomodate many of the advancements. The Mark V was concieved in the 2370s during the Dominion War as a method to bolster the fleet with advanced ships and create a vaible defense for the core worlds. A lot of the technology was derived from the Intrepid Class. The project was halted after the end of the Battle of Cardassia. The project wasn't revisited until May 6, 2383 during the Second Dominion War a few months before Operation Iwo Jima. The USS Enterprise-A was the only refitted Constitution Refit as Starfleet decided it was easier to just build the new ships rather than refitting them. The new ships were ready for Operation Iwo Jima. The Enterprise A was crippled during a recon mission by a Dominion Battlecruiser in the Itaria system. The USS Enterprise-E during Operation Norway. The Enterprise A was refitted with an upgraded M5 Computer and became the USS Enterprise-M5A. The Enterprise M5A quickly defeated numerous Dominion, Breen, and Sona vessels in the Gamma Quadrant. It eventually became a big threat to everyone after it glassed several worlds. destroyed several Federation ships and the Gamma 2 Outpost. It was eventually destroyed by Section 31. The class continues production and has become quite a common sight in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

1. Why would the federation upgrade constitution classes yet AGAIN, why would they use a design that is almost 80 years old, a space frame that is not at all up to date. the equivalent of this would be using the cutty sark as a container ship. It just doesn't work according to DITL standards.
2. The m5 debacle wouldn't be repeated again for sure?
3. three laws safe. Why not here?
4. the off switch. Why wasn't it used?

guys, please fill me in on the rest.

I have to agree with shran, why refit the Constitution Class...again?
It's just too old of a model to be really productive in the 24/25th centuries.

And, how on earth are you going to shoe-horn 6 quantum torpedo tubes into it?!

Far more believable if you merely name it "Constitution" rather than call it an actual refit of the frames.

Aye, from the sound of it, you're not just upgrading the original frame, you're making a new ship altogether.

Starfleet tried the refit on the Enterprise A and deemed it more efficient to just make new ships altogether.

In 2403 with hostilities rising on the boarders again, some critics began questioning Starfleet's continued production of exploration vessels; while others continued to cite a low number of exploration classes. Both sides had legitimate arguments, so in 2304, to satisfy both parties, construction of Premiere Class, and Galaxy Class's was reduced and supplies appropriated for potential Battleship constructions. They also developed the Polyrin Program to create the new generation Prometheus.
The Federation saw the value of separation in exploration from the Prometheus, especially when charting a nebulae or asteroid field, so they incorporated the idea into the new ship and upping the components into four. The Program was allocated a large amount of recourses to create a strong explorer and potential light cruiser. The final Design was approved by Admiral Paris (Jr.) shortly before he left the post in 2305. By 2306 the USS Polyrin had embarked on her maiden voyage.

Those nacelles look far to small.

And the saucer is almost bound to break off if mvam is included. one big blow and your ship lies literally in pieces.
And if certain parts of te ship would split off, for example, top saucer, would the remaining armament be capable of compensating for the lack of coverage that may arise? Once again, the 10+ warp factor. How?
