Well ya see... The Tholian Ambassador developed some sort of fascination with Earths late 20th/early 21st "gangsta" culture, and in an effort to understand the language his Universal Translator became permanently stuck on "Gangsta' English" .. yes, that sounds plausible right? ...... Right?

:D

Hey, Big, if I could have an extra day or two to finish up my spreadsheet, I'd really appreciate it. I'm not feeling very well.

He told me he was going to be out of town until Sunday so you've got the time.

I wonder if the Breen edw would work on a cube... that would be helpful.

It should, so long as the Borg don't get their hands on an EDW equipped ship.

It would depend what the limit of the dampening weapon was. It's certainly effective against ships at least up to the power of a Defiant or GCS, but Borg Cubes are a sight stronger than either of those. There's also the question of mechanism - the fact that the Klingons were able to immunise their ships pretty quickly by adjusting a few settings suggests the weapon main targets the warp core. A Borg ship's distributed power generation system may well be more resilient to such an attack.

Couldn't that be countered by mass fire? Hitting the Borg Cube from a dozen ships all at once. Even if it didn't cripple the ship, it would allow for the rest of the fleet to attack without getting raped.

Good point - I'm thinking too much of the one shot per ship approach the Breen used.

That is the thing that is difficult in dealing with that weapon for the purposes of this game. As far as I know there is no real information on how the thing actually worked. I have watched the episodes about it several times since starting this game up and no one ever really talks about what it does. The best I can figure is that it causes some sort of cascading power failure. The fact that once the other side came up with a solution the Dominion side did not even really try to modify it suggest to me at least that the weapon was something that exploited a specific weakness that once corrected made the weapon pretty much useless.

I tend to agree that the distributed power generation would make a Borg ship inherently difficult to do much with this weapon against them. Also I don't know that they would need to get control of a Breen ship, if they get a Federation, Klingon or Romulan ship that references the fix to the weapon in a database they would know about it as well.
