Bah, bow to my Instruments of Destruction! :P

I actually own this soundtrack. It's great background music for fanfic fight scenes.

NERDS!!!!!! :)

Alice In Chains - Over Now a really beautiful song, and one of the last great ones with the late Layne Staley.

EDIT: come to think of it, I want this song played at my memorial service. At high volume.

To continue my barrage:

ZZ Top - La Grange

One of the best riffs in history, IMO. Of course, I grew up on these guys, so I may be biased. 8)

They do have a lot of songs about whorehouses, don't they? And it's a bit suspicious that the one with a bald chin is the one named "Beard." ;) Kidding, I love ZZ Top - and my boy does, too - especially anything off Deguello.

Tres Hombres is one of my favorite albums.

Here's a few good examples:

Waitin' For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago (Uzume is going to love that reference :P )
Heard It On The X (They literally started their own pirate radio station to get their songs played.) :pirate:

Mexican Blackbird (I love this song  )

Move Me on Down the Line

Master Of Sparks

They still rock. 8)

Down - New Orleans Is A Dying Whore

Eyes Of The South - one of my all-time favorite songs; one of the first I learned to play. :D

My daughter was watching Disney's The Princess and the Frog this morning, which is set in New Orleans, and I was reminded of this. I'm not much of a fan of most folk music or ethnic music, but there is something about zydeco that reflects the mood of the area from which it hails. This is the King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier.

And I may have a genetic predisposition, but I also have a soft spot for klezmer music (even beyond what was played at my wedding. ;) ) Klezmer is traditional Yiddish music, being an amalgamation of Eastern European, Northern European, and Middle Eastern styles, and usually including horns, winds, mandolin, accordion, and fiddle. This cut by the Klezmer Conservatory Band, based on the traditional "A Nacht in Gan Eydn." is a nice example.
