Lots of funny moments in broken Italian, and an after credits scene that is ...odd.

Enjoyable mindless entertainment for all. If you enjoy classic Italian films by Fellini and others, you will notice many similarities.

Independence Day and it's sequel.

Enough has been talked about the original and even the sequel.

This time around though I didn't notice the obvious plot hole for the sequel. In the movie humans reverse engineer the alien technology to make a bunch of science fiction stuff. Well theres a problem, how would humans be able to do that if the tech was not active? In the first movie they had the alien fighter for almost 50 years and really couldn't do anything with it except repair it.

In the sequel there was a small comment by Goldblum about who turned on the landed alien ship's lights. Which means once the mothership was destroyed, power was cut off. Which means alien tech was off.

Of course, there is always that issue of how fast they were able to make reliable engines and weapons from all of wreckage in 20 years.

Black Widow.

It wasn't a bad Marvel film, but it wasn't great. Tough to make a suspense film when you already know the character makes it out to be in several more films before her demise. Tough to get toss-away humor to work when it is garbled in terrible Russian/Americanized dialects. It was a good introduction vehicle for Florence Pugh, to assume the mantle of Black Widow moving forward. Not a brilliant start for Phase 4 of the MCU (even though it was late in getting to air).

I've just summoned the courage to go to the cinema tomorrow for the first time since Graham passed. It's been a combination of them being closed and not being able to face going back without him.

In true Kennedy tradition I've booked to see the following:

12:20 Black Widow
15:10 Fast & Furious 9
18:00 The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

I could have added Freaky to the end of it but it's on at 20:40 and I would have to wait for an hour between that and the previous one.

Our personal record was 7 movies in a day, typically starting with a 10am showing of one of the more palatable kids films and finishing up with a midnight late show of some kind.

That, obviously, doesn't take movie marathons into account. For example when Star Trek movies came out we would often find a cinema that would show all the films back to back, timed to end on the midnight release day for the new film. The most I think we ever did that way was when First Contact came out and we were in there for 24 hours solid and a total of 8 films. They stopped doing them after that.

Pretty much agree with T’Pau on Black Widow. Ok, but not the best. All the tension has to hang on other characters, and given we’ve only just met them we don’t really care one way or the other, especially since everyone is fairly much a bad guy at the start of the movie.

Just about to start the last film. Doing ok so far.

Good to read. As for Black Widow, overall yeah. That's what I've heard about it overall.

The Hitman's Bodyguard's Wife: sequel-ish to the slightly less predictable Hitman's Boduguard. Loaded with profanity, some good funny lines, tons of action..all in all a decent popcorn flick on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Agreed, saw it the other day. Pretty much as you would expect from the first one, but slightly better I thought.

They also butchered Taskmaster. He is supposed to be one of the best hand to hand fighters in Marvel. This version might as well be a robot underneath.

This past weekend I watched Netflix's "Fear Street" trilogy. Pretty good. It's loosely based on R.L. Stine's "Fear Street" Book series.

All of Futurama. Well not just today. Over the last few weeks... 127 episodes (including the 3 movies).

Actually the other day I watched "Warlock", the 1989 movie with Julian Sands, Lori Singer and Richard E. Grant. Grant had the oddest accent I've ever heard, he's english and was I think trying to do Scottish / early Boston area accent. Which he was very bad at.

Pretty silly but not quite silly enough to be great.

Did it make you want to drink the melted fat of a young boy, to gain the ability to fly?

(To this day, that still creeps me out!)
