" Wollsey," the man answers, accepting the orange. " I don't suppose you've tested this have you?" he asked, sitting down across from Gaius and using his nails to pierce the skin and peel the fruit open.

" Wollsey," the man answers, accepting the orange. " I don't suppose you've tested this have you?" he asked, sitting down across from Gaius and using his nails to pierce the skin and peel the fruit open.

Gaius shoots his hand out and grabs the mans wrist, taking the orange back. "Gaius, and no I haven't. We better have some rations instead. They are still in the package. I'll share one with you." He plops the orange on the ground next to him and fishes a ration pack out of his bag, tossing it to Wollsey.

"I'll test this out", Gaius indicates the fruit. He slices it in half with his bayonet and dabs the juice with a finger before putting it to the outside of his lips.

Wollsey catches the ration pack, and sets about prepping the cooker. " Be careful," he says. " When I got here the other day, I tried something I thought was an apple. My whole mouth went numb for hours. Luckily it happened so fast my jaw dropped loose before I could swallow any of it."

Lot is taken back by the chained mans enthusiasm, weird she thinks to herself," shouldn't he be more desperate considering the circumstances?" Staying in the elevator she throws him a steam of questions, " Who are you? Who did this to you? And Why should I let you free?"

"Figures," Gaius mutters. As he waits for the fruit juice to have sort of reaction, he pokes around in his pack until his eyes fall on the auspex. He pulls it clear and turns to his new comrade, "you know how to work this?"

" Is she afraid?" the man coos. " One thinks she might be." He sighs deeply. " One is Phrenz. One does not know. And she might be well rewarded." he answers the questions.

Wollsey looks excitedly at the auspex. " Yes, yes yes, oh if only I'd had, may I?" he holds out a shaking hand.

Gaius hands the scanner over, "maybe you can scan us and the fruit as well?"

"...I can't see why not," Wollsey answers after a second. " Is there something I should be looking for?"

"I'm not sure, I inhaled a bunch of plant spores and passed out a while back and got stabbed by there thorns. And I guess we should scan the fruit and see if it's toxic. By the Throne, scan us and see if we've both been poisoned!"

A chill of warning shoots down her spine, but she doesn't let it show. Lot tells the man to be still as she studies his chains.

Wollsey nodded and spent a few minutes fiddling with the scanner. " Well, we're not poisoned, and niether is the fruit you have with you. There is something...odd about you though."

The man does as asked, falling silent. Still, Lot can feel his gaze strongly upon her as she inspects the chains. The links themselves are engraved with silver, an elegant runic script running along the metal. A chilling sweat breaks out on Lot's skin, and when she wipes at it, she notices that the droplets fall upwards, splattering on the ceiling.

Wollsey nodded and spent a few minutes fiddling with the scanner. " Well, we're not poisoned, and niether is the fruit you have with you. There is something...odd about you though."

"Odd, like I'm crazy or odd like I'm gonna sprout another arm?" Gaius asks as he passes half the orange over to Wollsey. He shoves the other into his mouth.

" Well," Wollsey said. " Normally I'd take this kind of reading as a sign that you had a tumor, and damn bad one at that. Only the growth doesn't have the right organic make up." He looked up at Gaius. " The only way I can make sense of these readings is if you have a plant using your flesh as soil."

Gaius jaw drops and the remnants of his orange fall out onto the ground. "What, like a tree? I'm gonna turn into a damn tree!" He looks around for a few moments before sweeping his arm around, "you think all these trees used to be people? Can you get it out?"

" I don't think it's going to be that bad, it seems more like a ground tuber, like a potato I think." Wollsey said, though he set his half of the orange aside. " As for getting it out, I guess it could be done, but unless we get some better tools I doubt you'd survive the process."
