Re: A new random thread
Ah, right. I had a brief browse around his site once several years ago. I think I recall leaving it upon finding that page where he argued that ships in Star Wars have a weapons range of 200 metres, or something like that.
"You've all been selected for this mission because you each have a special skill. Professor Hawking, John Leslie, Phil Neville, the Wu-Tang Clan, Usher, the Sugar Puffs Monster and Daniel Day-Lewis! Welcome to Operation MindFuck!"

The... game Kirk came up with in 'A Piece of the Action' in order to confuse his captors on Sigma Iotia II.

Fair is fair. Darkstar was many things, but stupid wasn't one of them. Bloody-minded, pig-headed, accusatory, defensive, paranoiac, and a general all-encompassing asshole - yes. But not stupid.
Yes, I think Striker had a game of fizbin in his crossover fic, right?Sionnach Glic wrote:Ah, I should have gotten that refference.

SW ships have weapons ranges in the low hundreds of metres
The Rebel fleet, including fighters, was in hyperspace for several days getting from Sullust to Endor
Star Wars humans are born with metal spines
Not stupid eh?

OK, I stand corrected. I should have said that he could converse clearly, if not eloquently, when he was so inclined.
Unfortunately, he wasn't inclined so often enough.

Oh, he was eloquent alright - eloquent enough that spotting that fact that his arguments are pure bullshit can be very difficult by all accounts. He's notorious for painting some of the most insane proposals in a deceptively reasonable light.

Okay, the first two I can at least understand in some capsity, even if they are totally BS. But metal spines? Where ever in the holy hell would you even concieve such an idea from?Captain Seafort wrote:SW ships have weapons ranges in the low hundreds of metres

Just an observation. In the Army we would zero our M-16s to two hundred meters. Do turbolasers have the same range as a 5.56 shell?
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.
