In that case it would fall under Tac, with some small input from Ops.
Well, what about when Tac and Ops are busy and the auxilery craft are in need of orders and such? It would help to have someone in direct command of all auxilery craft operations I believe.Rochey wrote:In that case it would fall under Tac, with some small input from Ops.
They're pretty large departments. Under what possible circumstances would both departments be so occupied with other activities that they can't deal with a unit that is already intergrated into their command structure?Well, what about when Tac and Ops are busy and the auxilery craft are in need of orders and such?
We already have someone in charge. Two someones, actualy. Mikey and Thorin. It would help to have someone in direct command of all auxilery craft operations I believe.
No need to jump ship just yet if you don't want to... Dark seems (hopefully) to be back, so it could be an easy entrance for you.shran wrote:The starase could also take care of me. All I have been doing is: absolutely nothing :p Though it could be interesting to follow my developments from some distance by having darkomen keeping in contact with the starbase about me.
I've got 20 people in tactical who are devoted to maintaining, co-ordinating, organising and flying the fighters, including the already there leader of the fighters Lieutenant JG Anker Zionex (a Bolian). They do nothing else. They cannot possibly be busy with anything other than looking after them.ChakatBlackstar wrote:

Wouldn't it be more efficient to have one person in charge? We already have someone in charge. Two someones, actualy. Mikey and Thorin.
Or leave*glares at Monroe and Rochey*Well with our rescent losses we could really use a break at a star base. That'd be a prime opportunity for a new character to come onboard.
No, because they're separate entities. You could say wouldn't it be more effecient to have one person in charge of operations, tactical, security, medical, science, engineering... It doesn't work. Taking away two people who specialise in their jobs to add in one person who can't possibly specialise as much in both jobs.ChakatBlackstar wrote:

Or you could drop dead. Then I would take tacticle.Thorin wrote: So really there is no other option than to either join one or get a new character.
No. Tac deals with the military craft, Ops deals with the non-com craft. That keeps duties clearly defined and allows both departments to focus on their own jobs rather than screwing around with stuff they shouldn't be dealing with.Wouldn't it be more efficient to have one person in charge?
Not happening.Or leave*glares at Monroe and Rochey*
And, of course, a starbase on the edge of Tholian space would be the perfect place to develope a prototype fighter.I'm thinking, bringing in a new fighters(still the same class as the original fighters we started with), including an automated prototype, the Semi-Autonomous Logistical Intelligence Entity or SALIE(pronounced Sally).
A pilot who ended up unable to fly because she crashed her own ship into a planet just after leaving the academy, despite taking no damage at all to the ship initialy. And M'Real would be the best choice to be in charge of the tests and missions carried out by SALIE as she was a pilot herself.
First of all, the fighters themselves are the same types as the ones we're already hauling around. Just the latest model. And it wouldn't be developed there, obviously that's just stupid. But the experimental AI would still need to be tested in live fire situations. And, of course, a starbase on the edge of Tholian space would be the perfect place to develope a prototype fighter.
She still saved the lives of herself and her wingmen, preforming a dangerous and difficult manuvour. And saved Starfleet from the cost of scrapping a pair of old shipsA pilot who ended up unable to fly because she crashed her own ship into a planet just after leaving the academy, despite taking no damage at all to the ship initialy.
I think I'd prefer someone who's actualy demonstrated an ability to fly to test these things out.
The Daystrom is on it's way to destroy enemy strongholds. Additional fighters would be necessary or at least useful for attacking an enemy fighter base. There are far better places to develope and test out these fighters.
