Ok my next post will be of the fleet departing so if anyone wants to tie up their prep or organise anything do it now. I wont post for at least two or three days. We'll be on rout for a few days so we can get ready then we;ll engage. i imagin the battle will take around two weeks at least so there is no rush.

Remember no one is superman, everyone has limits and no one is the best at anything. All of our guys are just normal guys, sure they can be good at what they do and be competent but no one should be super uber amazing kicking arse with one hand behind their back. Its boring and pointless and destroys a story.

Both fleets have a limited number of ships and its not like one side is going to be totally destoryed. No one is going to be able to single handedly take down a couple of ships or do something totally amazing.

This is a battle not a chance to show everyone how kick arse your guy is. For everything that goes well something will go bad. Since my guy has little to do during the battle I will also be handling the major moves of the enemy fleet. Everyone gets to play in the the battle but try not to dictate major changes to much unless already agreed apon.

3 groups of 7 - we have 21 fighters aboard.

Blackstar, whatever you want to play with regarding semantics, there are 7 fighter vessels per 'group' on the Daystrom.

Second strike group: Engaging the enemy fleet.

2 - Akira Class - USS Daystrom
1 - Nebula - No name
2 - Defiant - No name
2 - Steamrunner class - No name
1 - Intrepid - No name
54 - Falcon class fighters
54/2 akiras = 27/3 wings = 9

It says 7 in the ship stats but 9 here. I think we decided a few pages back to bump the numbers up a bit for this mission.

It was bumped up to 21 (from the previous 7) for this mission. Just because you get more fighters onboard doesn't mean the actual tactics of each one would change, just there'd be more of them.

And 800 square metres wouldn't even cover 1% of the Akira's hull, Teaos

40 x 20 metres is probably just enough to armour on top of the bridge and maybe a little bit near the warp core, where the distance between the outer hull and the warp core is least.

Oh shut up I was making up numbers as I went :D

I might add a 0 to the number then. I want the ship to have it over the bridge and over key areas like weapons and directly around the core since this may be the only battle in trek where people fight smart. Aiming for the bridge and all that smart stuff :)

Maybe we could have a nice little plotline with the main bridge getting obliterated and having to retreat to the battle/emergency bridge? Even to engineering? Would add some more character stuff than 'outside of ship' fighting.

Also, is Tsuki playing a temporary character? Because we still need a chief engineer.

For this mission he is a temp character in command of the strike group taking out the platforms. Depending on what he wants he may join next mission.

I was just thinking of someone of us to revamp the ship after this mission so we move the Bridge down into the ship but i couldnt think of anything.

Destroying it in mission is a good excuse but how do we do that with out Me, you, Mikey and Reliant being sucked into space :)

Hewer: They're aiming for the bridge - 5 separate ships. Photon's incoming!

*runs away from bridge*

And we are the lead ship of our strike group... good reason to target us.

We'll sort it out in battle. Might have us get side swiped by one of the subspace weapons dropping our shields for a moment.

Okay I got the word out to the pirates. Be nice if as soon as we dropped out of warp a subspace mine went off.

We could still do with a Chief Engineer... And a Doctor.

I figure we'll give some of the Brotherhoods fleet cloaks so once we're engaged a bunch of them drop down on top of us out of no where. Probably those nice strong Ferengi ships since they would have all sorts of tech added to them.

Since they are pirates and other criminals their ships will be loaded with random stolen tech.

We should relatively comfortably win, though, shouldn't we?

That could be used as a convenient excuse for us to reunite with teh Dakota once we're in the heat of battle. I have an idea for the usefulness of such a reunion, and I still think it makes "RPG sense" for all our characters to be involved together in some way during the action-packed climax. :D
