I seem to remember that it has been quite a while since your dad has visited down under. Hope your visit is terrific!

So I had a whole story about how my place burned down today. But managed to back out of it through my keyboard. Gone. Anyway.

So it burned down.

Anyway, they eventually rescued my cats. One of which is healthy and the other isn't.

I go to my Dad's later today. He wants me to put the cat to sleep. Maybe seeing the cat in a new light, I do see it. He really is in bad shape. And not because of the fire. So tomorrow, homeless I will have to put down my first cat.

So 2024 sucks.

I put down my first cat I ever had myself today. He found me in 2009. This super friendly, never aggressive cat. Was excellent around all animals. Roll with the punches. Zero sttenger danger. My beautiful fluffy fat cat.

But in the past 18 months, he went downhill. Lost weight and lost the ability to groom himself. He had long hair which is the worse. So developee matted fur which got worse. More than I can handle as I had to wait for it grow out. Eventually he just got straight up dirty.

The fire that destroyed my apartment building (but not the floor I lived on, just smoke and water damage but to the extreme). He was fine found yesterday.

But this morning, he went from standing up and eating to twitching and gasping for air by 3:30 in the afternoon. Maye he gave up. Maybe smoke inhalation got him slowly. I don't know.

He was my first cat. He was the cat that came up to me randomly as a stray and slept on my lap while I read Star Trek Destiny trilogy books (remember those). The cat that slept on everyone. He loved everyone.

My life absolutely sucks. Lost my Mom this year. Lost my home. And lost my cat.

I expect to be falsely accused of murder and lose next.

They are letting people in. My floor wasn't touched by fire but they certainly blasted the hell of it with water. Whole drywall ceiling is gone my bedroom. I mean, if they allowed me to. I could sleep under the stars. I just have to move the drywall chunks, all of the soot and accept I am sleeping on a makeshift watered.

I also have a skylight in my bathroom. But I can't go in there, as the upstairs bathtub may fall through. Yeah the whole complex is done. Complete destruction of the upstairs and severe water damage.

Red Cross is helping as much as they can. 24 families, 47 people in total.

Salvage what you can before they demo the whole building. Be safe!

I took as much as I could. The only clothing I could take that was still inside my dresser and in my hamper. Both of which protected from the water. But still smells like smoke.

I had to take as much as I could today because a storm was coming in and if there was enough rain, would completely collpase my ceiling drywall and maybe supports. Remember I don't have a roof or even a floor above me to protect my place. It's literally insulation and then very wet drywall as a roof now.

On the good news front my job started a GoFundme page and as of right now 6.5 hours in it's sitting at $1,400. So that's cool. On Monday, I have to report to two different places to collect donations, gift cards, cash, or whatever. The local GoFundme Page for everyone is sitting at $15k.

I am very touched by everyone. It's true charity at its most basic. Helping a fellow person in need. From the bottom of their hearts.

I am the guy with the two cats that were rescued. The guy being interviewed is my upstairs neighbor. His place is a complete loss.

If it is cool with this website to link a GoFundMe page, consider doing so.

I am truly sorry for the stuff you are dealing with lately, I am glad that there is help out there.

As T'Pau says, if it is permissible on the site, link the GoFundMe (I'm not sure of the rules around such things).
