Thanks. Fingers crossed it's 'just' a bowel obstruction and he's not either misdiagnosed or it's really something worse.Nutso wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:20 amSorry Striker, but glad it's not the worst.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 12, 2022 8:57 pm So, visiting my dad and stepmother this weekend. I get home this morning from work and he's being loaded into an ambulance. My stepmother says he had bad stomach pains. We get a call from the doctor and it seems to be a bowel obstruction, which is better than what we feared but still nerve-wracking.

My guy had a small bowel obstruction as a side effect from hernia repair surgery. A few days with a naso-gastric tube and it resolved without requiring surgery.
Hope things go as easily for your dad and you get him home soon!

Looking to move within the year. Got a new job in New Castle Delaware. Right now I am driving 1000 miles a week and it's costing me upwards of $700 in gas alone.
Being paid well enough but it is killing my car, my own personal time off and my wallet.
I am doing Audio books. Since the Game of Thrones audio books suck (every character is either Scottish, British, Irish, Boston, or American), I have used a YouTube version by a Danish woman who does a remarkable good job of it. There is another version done by I think a German woman but how she pronounces certain words was driving me nuts.
Anyway done with Books 1 to 5 and the Fire and Blood book too. Yes I have read them before.
Going to look for something now.

It's not bad. Mostly highways anyway.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 9:42 pm oof, goog idea on the move, McAvoy. that commute sounds nuts to me!
I am looking into moving to Delaware. The way I look at it even if it doesn't work out in New Castle (basically right on the Delaware River at a crossroads between Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware) I could be on the south side of Philadelphia. Which is easier than going from the North.
Because fuck Philly drivers treating it like Nascar.
Anyway Delaware is cheaper, no sales tax and I think income tax is lower to anyway. Gas is slightly cheaper too. I filled up on Friday at $4.59 as opposed to NJ being around $4.63-$4.69. That sma difference does make a difference in my case.

Count yourself lucky you aren't here. Petrol (gas) is at $8.50 a gallon.

Yeah I know. At least you guys over the pond have a far better public transportation system then we do.IanKennedy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 12:16 pm Count yourself lucky you aren't here. Petrol (gas) is at $8.50 a gallon.
The sad thing is that I live near a bus route for the train station. As in that bus is just for the train. But there is no trains remotely close to where I work.

God, our public transportation system is... *Facepalms*

It does me wonder why there really hasn't been a national attempt in improving public transportation in the US to combat climate change and the increasing price of gas.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:39 pm God, our public transportation system is... *Facepalms*
Anyway, I have noticed since I use YouTube alot while driving I am actually cooking YouTube into the screen.

I'm on vacation. After how stressful work has been, I so need to be able to relax a bit.
