I know. I meant taken from elsewhere. Probably for study for inspect it for any useful new technology to be assimilated.

As Far as I know, the borg don't think about assimilating, or take things to study, they just assimilate it and use what knowledge from it they can get.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

The difference between a continuous beam and a pulse (both delivering the same number of Joules) is like resting your arm on someone's shoulder vs punching them.Grundig wrote:What's the difference between automatic phasers and traditional phasers that fire one constant pulse? Wouldn't an automatic phaser just be a phaser that doesn't shoot constantly, i.e. less? If so, why is that so much better?

Considering the Borg in Descent had similar wrist-mounted weapons (I believe they were identified as disruptors in Descent, though I'm unsure) to the one Seven had, I'd postulate that they usually have them, but don't use them for whatever reason.Rochey wrote:I know. They're not seen as standard. Seven and the Descent Drones are the only ones that had them. Presumably Seven was just using a weapon that was of the same (or similar) design to the Descent Drones.

Maybe every seventh drone has them.

Reading Bernd's review again, he sounds like a spoiled little kid who can't take change in Star Trek's universe.

What was it's budget?
Safe to say they'll be making another one.

And, everyone is signed up for a sequel, I believe.

Well it's one thing to sign up for a sequel, it's another for the studio to decide to fun it. However since they've already got about a 50% ROI after two weeks it's safe to say they're going to make a mint on this.

That's pretty decent, seems Abrams managed to animate Treks corpse after all. Good on him.

Re: Seen it! SPOILERS IN HERE!!!!
I'm wondering if this is an effects error:
In the opening scene with the Kelvin, when Kirk Sr. is about to ram the Narada, the ship goes in full impulse and the camera zooms in on the secondary hull instead of the the red strip which I thought was the impulse engines.
Aren't the red strips the impulse engines?
Isn't the white fire area on the nacelle analogous to the blue strips in Trek Prime; i.e., plasma exhaust, not engine thrust?
