Indeed, although I doubt a single BAR would have sufficed - it only had a 20-round mag, and that was in too awkward a position to change easily. A Bren might well have been adequate, but I wouldn't put money on a non belt-fed weapon.

Heh, that's what happens when you make an off-the-cuff comment (hyperbole or otherwise) in the presence of someone with a fascination for military minutia. :P

Although I agree that anything less then belt-fed would merely postpone a Jem'Hadar over-run of the choke point.

Even that OLD large laser cannon from "The Cage" would have been an awsome ground support weapon at that point. Just turn it on, and the Jem'Hadar couldn't get through.

Absolutely. Not to mention the mortar Kirk used in "Arena". The TOS Federation definately knew how a military should be equipped.

As long as you didn't want to move your men faster than a march. Otherwise, you need to see the Cardassians for that.

They might have had Mech capability then we just might not have seen it since that wasn't the Enterprises role.

But yes, Happiness is a belt fed weapon...

I don't know where it originates but you can buy bumper stickers, shirts etc with that saying on it... definitely true though. The level of happiness also increases with the caliber, a 20 mm Phalanx CIWS is pretty much the top end though...

That's what she said.

Hay, I'm in High School, I'm allowed to make immature jokes like that.
