I took a hop, a skip, and a ferry ride into the city yesterday to see Blue Man Group for the first time. It's a really fun show with lots of humor end energy (but no ice cream). Though it's a somewhat pricey ticket I'd go back: energy is something I tend to lack. As to what Richard Hammond thinks of this, I care not.

2. In an infinite world why not Who knows what goes on in the mind of food. Look at Sausage Party for example, who'd have thought it.

3. Why can't he. Perhaps he's in league with said desert or has been appointed by the international league of gay deserts to speak for them. Perhaps he's made of ice-cream himself.

4. It wasn't Top Gear. It was The Grand Tour, no stig involved. Again, fair enough. You are just as entitled to say that of them as Hammond is of ice-cream. It's not as if Clarkeson didn't defend ice-cream's reputation.

5. Ice-cream in France is "la glace", which is feminine. It's frequently seen being eaten by women. Clearly it's lesbian and thus gay.

I don't even know who this Richard Hammond is, but what he said there about ice cream is the definition of dumb.

Reason # 1304 I could never play in the NFL (aside from utter lack of requisite strength and athletic talent and for many positions, size): there are some games played in cold weather. The season actually starts in September so it's not all an ice-fest but today's playoff game in Pittsburgh is being played with a wind chill of 1F at the start (-17C). One particular way the cold disagrees with me is a set of very overactive sinus membranes: in this kind of weather I can't make a coffee run without my nose literally dripping by the time I get to the 7-11 around the corner. I suspect whatever underlying cause shows up at the other end of the spectrum as excessive sweat too though I still prefer summer weather.

But don't bother trying to call to console me since I'm temporarily without cell phone service. I'm in the midst of a transition between my old single member plan (a quite affordable prepaid plan with data, all I need since I'm not a heavy user) to a four-member family plan. It's one of my sisters who is the representative and payer for the family: she already has the new sim cards but hasn't sent out those for the other three of us nor it seems activated hers due to a dispute with T-Mobile over when the billing period started. Apparently they were set to start the billing on the first, which must have been before she received the cards. My mother feels the couple of days loss isn't worth fighting over but neither she nor I is in charge here. The new plan doesn't do much for me but it will provide Mom a data plan and save both my sisters on their bills (Dad still has no cellphone).

As an aside, it seems Miami isn't enjoying the cold either. Pitt has opened a can of whoop-@ss on them thus far. One can debate how much it matters that Miami isn't acclimated to such conditions relative to the fact that Pittsburgh is simply better on paper. Though I have no direct interest in either team, Miami is the more direct and stronger historical rival to my boys (who were completely awful this season)... so this outcome is fine with me.

While not nearly as physically exerting (understatement of the century), I currently manage a frozen grocery warehouse. 31F on dock/perishable areas, -10F in freezer, -20F in ice cream room with the Freon-cooled blowers forcing air out at about 15mph. If you can't deal with cold, this is not your place.

While our crew tends to select frozen groceries in layered sweats, to be in there simply walking or riding a fork lift requires full freezer pants and a heavy jacket, plus full mask. Glasses fog and freeze nearly instantly and watered eyes can freeze shut if blinking too long. Not to mention, if you have the slightest sinus issue, expect more mucus than you thought your body could hold flowing out of your nose as you switch temperatures. It is a fully exhilarating experience! Oh, and there's the never ending cold we all suffer from...

Well, my little guy made it through his surgery yesterday like a real trooper. Came out of anesthesia relatively quickly and in quite a bit of pain, but fell into a more normal sleep a little bit after that and woke feeling much better. Plus he seems to have tolerated the anesthesia - not being too vertiginous or nauseous - better than most folks I know, including adults. We'll find out later today how effective the procedure was, but he did great.
