Technically they're all ovals, except for those retarded road courses
Those are the most boring races of the season
I believe the correct term for the Pocono super speedway is tri-oval. The main straightaway is long, meaning horsepower is everything, however you'll need to slam your breaks in turn one. Turn 2 is nothing special except for the fact that a tunnel to the infield is under it giving it the name Tunnel Turn. Turn 3 creates traction issues in certain spots. Not enough to wipe out, but it can be trouble if you aren't prepared. It provides plenty of chances to pass other drivers in the turns and front straightaway.
Another difficulty is that practice on Saturday was canceled because of rain so the officials had a mandatory yellow at lap 25...I think...so drivers could make adjustments. The red flag in the middle of the race also made issues with fuel.

It's like golf, only good if your drunk and the drink girl has big hooters. Sorry Reliant, I've never been to a golf course that had a drink dude.

I guess it's one of those things where you can only get the maximum potential from if you get into it, kinda like Star Trek.

What "maximum potential" can there possibly be in watching people go around in circles for hours?

I'm battening down the hatches; tropical storm Eduardo is due to hit here tomorrow. Good thing I already have a stock of supplies; My car is in the shop, so I'm actually stuck.

Perhaps if you invite your "friend" to shelter with you it wont be so bad. You know the one I mean.

We all have our "thing" that we like, and it often looks stupid to others. But they have their "thing" too, even if they don't realise it. I've been laughed at for being a Trekker by a guy who could name every member of the England rugby team for the last 20 years. He asked me if I wore a Starfleet uniform (I don't), and didn't see the irony that he was wearing an England Rugby shirt as he laughed.
Nascar is incredibly boring and silly to me. It's just cars going in a circle all the time! But lord there must be a dozen things I am into that other people would find silly or stupid or downright bizzare. It's all good.

You know, funny story, true story, a friend of mine asked "What can you get out of watching an unrealistic starship flying through space and talking to aliens?"
Anyway, to answer your question there's a lot more depth then them driving around the track, which is actually an oval not a circle. What tires to use, when to pit, should they wait for a yellow, should they try to cut under the guy or pass above him in the corner or go for speed in the straightaway, is the car loose or too tight(Bow Chicka Bow Wow)...you know, things like that.

And then get them-
*breathes deeply* self-control, above all. Besides, I don't have to tell you.

Well...The LGBT group was awesome. Really enjoyable, although the overly camp dude was a tad annoying. Met this really sweet if a tad quiet guy. Not the best looking i've ever seen but his personality is really really sweet ^^
And good luck Tsuki.
