No problem there with the hammer.

Just, never really heard of a librarian with a heavy weapon.

Awesome

*shrug* It's in my advancement options, so I took it. And hell if I know anything about what's normal for the marines.

Well if it's in your advances you can take it.

And done, finally. I can't believe that took me the better part of 6 hours.

Anyway, the team has a psychic healer...who likes to set things on fire.

Well lets see.

I need to create stats for a good number of characters, make a couple maps, and get a firmer grip on the details of this mission. Lots of stuff to do and I'm looking forward to it all.

A Librarian usually carries a sidearm (inferno or plasma pistol, maybe a hand flamer would fit for the Salamanders) and a Force Staff.

Hey GM/quartermaster - if I make an assault marine, can I assume I get a jump pack?

Of course. Standard issue for assault marines.

Yeah, I saw that after I asked.

Are we going to have the opportunity to acquire upgraded gear as we advance? Example - I'm almost done with my Raven Guard assault marine. I want to eventually have a pair of lightning claws (as every decent Raven Guard should. ;) ) I don't get the power weaponsalent until next rank. I have chain weapons now, and would take one lightning claw as my second melee weapon planning for future use, if I can be resonably confident that I'll be able to get another.

XP

XP will be awarded at the completion of a mission. No suddenly learning how to use a power weapon mid battle. Don't worry though, my goal here is to keep these deployments quick. The kill team gets a mission, executes it, and gets out. No screwing around, if you're being deployed there's something that needs to die immediately. Once back to base you get your XP, take your new talents/skills, and be issued new kit.

Loot

I can categorically say that there will be nothing in the way of loot worth getting on this first mission. Probably not the second, and it's all xeno tech anyways. What will happen is that on completion of the mission you can rearm. So if the XP on the mission lets you take the melee weapon (power) talent you can of course draw the appropriate weapons from stores. You're Deathwatch Space Marines, there's pretty much nothing you can't get your hands on if you've got the training for it. Same thing with terminator honors. Distinguish yourself on the mission and you can get terminator honors allowing you to requisition terminator armor if its appropriate to the mission.

My goal is to keep things short and sweet. Interesting and engaging but quick. Just a hint, the first mission should last a few hours (in universe) at the most. Not saying things can't go south but the Deathwatch is used for point raids against important targets, not drawn out slug fests.

So as I understand it, we'll continuously keep the same loadout as you mentioned, we can just alter the specific types of each weapon; and when I'm able to spend the XP to purchase a new weapon talent, I'll also be in a position to get the appropriate weapon. Check.

'Nother question - any ruling on a combination of two-weapon wielder and swift strike? I.e., if I have both and I'm fighting with a chainsword in one hand and a pistol in the other, I make a full action to attack with both - can I still use swift srike to make a second attack with the sword?

Bjor's final details up, background and such. Rochey and I are going with being from the same Blood Claw pack.

One quick question; can I requisition additional medical kit? Banadages, synthskin, anti-toxin etc?

I'm going to have to say no. Both talents require a full action to make two attacks so you can either chose to make one pistol shot and a melee attack or two melee attacks. Now if you get Lightning Attack I'll allow two melee attacks and a pistol attack.

Your call, of course, but there is a case for "yes" (more than just "But I wanna!") DH states that you can use any firing mode on a pistol attack during a two=weapon attack - even semi- or full-auto, which are normally themselves full actions. It could be argued that the Swift Strike is simply a different type of full action to be included in the two-weapon attack. I'll abide by your statement, though.

How about extry demo charges a/o grenades?

PS - character up in a couple of minutes for review.

I'll consider it. It should be noted though that while we might have big weapons and lots of abilities I'll be either throwing some big enemies at the group or a metric fucking ton of them.

Within reason yes. So long as its not so many you look like a walking pineapple it should be ok.
