Funny, that seems to be most people's reaction to it. Once again the critics fail to comprehend what people want.

That's because critics all seem to look at any movie as if it is suppose to be the next timeless classic, as opposed to looking at what the movie was meant to be. If it's suppose to be a brainless shoot em up, and the movie has plenty of gun fights, explosions, and hot women, it's what it's suppose to be.

My biggest gripe with it is that the "comedic moments" were much more fitting to another "American Pie" movie then an Action Blockbuster depicting evil robots bent on destroying the world...

I loved the robots and the battles, but I can't stand the main character.
He seems so "Weasley Crusher" to me...
The truth always depends on which side of the fence you're standing... ;)

As 'deep' as some people want Transformers to be-and it can get deep if you want it to-it basically boils down to two groups of shape-shifting alien robots beating the holy slag out of one another.

And it is that, that they do so well!
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Which is why, in my opinion, they should have just left the humans out of it as far as characters go. Just have the squishies running around screaming while the bots duke it out.

Sorry, gotta disagree. A human element is needed for the audience to have a PoV concerning the Transformers. Also, the soldiers, Mikaela and Sam were some of the best human characters since Spike, Sparkplug, Chip Chase and Carlie(sp) from G1.

I hear a lot of crying about the human characters but to be honest... some of the great moments of the film were when Sam screamed like a girl and his mother got stoned!

I agree, the humans are definately needed, maybe not so much for the serious/action packed scenes.

The whole series is about the interaction between Humans and Transformers. We always complain here about people killing the story lines of things we like. Well, if we try to remove the humans then we're guilty of the same.

Besides, I liked watching the Autobots and Human forces smashing the Decepticons.

That is something I enjoyed about the first one. The humans weren't just there. They contributed to the final battle. No humans and the Autobots would have lost.

Sam screamed like a girl
Not surprising given the situation.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Probably the most realistic thing he could've done. Kudos to that being his reaction, there. He's a teen in suburbia. A police car just changed into a giant robot and is demanding to know where the 'glasses' are. In all seriousness, what would you do?

Gotta agree with Deep. Half the fun is seeing the two species interacting with each other.

Just saw the movie the other day...I find myself disapponted. I really wish they hadn't beefed up the stupid, crude humor like they did. The previous movie at least kept the immaturity at an acceptible level.
I mean really, they felt the need to give Devestator balls? I also thought the ending was pretty weak, throwing mystic robot voodoo in. And then Prime takes off and blows the doomsday device up on his first pass. So much for any suspence in the end fight, he's already saved the world, he just needs to clean up at that point.
As for the humans fighting with the autobots, it's cool in idea, but it felt weak in practice. The humans just seemed to be there to avoid feeling left out, at least during the opening battle. In the end battle they felt more involved, but that's because they were actually using some heavy weapons, mainly vehical mounted. I mean really, why were the soliders using rifles? Shouldn't every ground pounder have been lugging around RPGs if they are going to be fighting 20+ foot tall armored robots?

The action was pretty sweet, and some of the humor was funny.
loved the airdrop scene were they got rid of the asshole
. Prime and BB kicked a lot of ass this time around, dual weilding optimus WTF. I want to know what kind of training Sam puts himself through though, because the kid got his ASS KICKED through the whole movie and never seemed to slow down or tire out. The dude was a machine himself [/sarcasm]

I do find myself wishing they had made the decipicons more distinct. They were all done in monotone grey except for devistator, and it made it hard to tell them apart.
I also find it weird that RC was turned into several small bots.
Over all, I want to like the movie more, but to me it felt like they took a series I rather loved as a kid, and raped it. I find myself disagreeing on so many points, that even though there was a alot I did like, it can't really save the movie for me.

A final thought.
The idea of Megatron groveling to ANYONE the way he did to the Fallen is absurd. Even Unicron, a robot the size of a small moon that eats planets, who rebuilt a nearly scraped megatron and put in a means to torture him at a distance could barely exercise any control over him, and all the while megatron was constantly looking for a way to turn the tables on unicron.

The live action films are a stand alone. Just like a number of the Transformer series.

As to the humans, you're right, it was hard for them to have any effect in battle. But then again its just as important that they tried and were willing to pay the price side by side with the Autobots.
