Ajax! that's the one name I couldn't think of! I kept thinking, "I'm missing a British battlecruiser name here...It's relatively famous...but which one?!?" River Plate right?

I was thinking it could be like "be friends with us. We'll protect you with our huge ass guns" sorta mentality.
I see. Being the name of a famous 19th century slave ship sort of sours me on that name.

MM&I - I like Achilles. What about Ajax or Diomedes to go with it?
Amistad is Spanish for friendship, which is where I got the name. Well, that's not totally true. I got it from the capital of Chakona, the Chakat's adopted homeworld, which was named Amistad meaning friendship. I happened to be reading CSI: Amistad when I came up with it 8)

And I also got Aquila from Chakat-insperations. Chakona is in a planetary system around the G3 yellow dwarf star Aquila RA 19h49m7s D 8°46'. It was later renamed Chakastra (Chakat's Star).

So...be glad I didn't suggest something dirty :P

Don't be such a pessimist. Strictly speaking, La Amistad was not a slave ship; she was not designed to transport slaves, nor did she engage in the Middle Passage of Africans to the Americas.

La Amistad engaged in shorter, coastal trade. The primary cargo carried by La Amistad was sugar-industry products, and her normal route ran from Havana to her home port of Guanaja.

It was also the site of blacks revolting and fighting for their freedom. That would seem like a postive thing to me

A ship used to carry slaves = a slave ship.

And why would stars in the Chakat universe have Latin names? Aquila is Latin for "eagle," and is also the name of a constellation.

Exeter, although she was a (rather weak) heavy cruiser, not a battlecruiser. And that's exactly what I though when I saw Ajax and Achilles.

If you going for historic vessels (I do alot of world war II naval research for the fun of it)

Why not the Yamashiro, Fuso (which is also an ancient name for Japan), Musashi or Ise

What happened to "one suggestion per person"? :|
Right, I'll make up one poll for class names, and one for ship names. Everybody throw out one suggestion for both class name and ship name, and I'll put it up tonight. We have too many suggestions right now to fit all of them into a poll.
And I also got Aquila from Chakat-insperations. Chakona is in a planetary system around the G3 yellow dwarf star Aquila RA 19h49m7s D 8°46'. It was later renamed Chakastra (Chakat's Star).
Right, if we name it the Auila, then I reserve the right to fly this flag from the bridge:

I think it might be a star in that constellation, I'm not totally sure. Stellar geography is not one of my strong suits.

As for the one name I think I'll go with Aquila since Mikey seems to really dislike Amistad for some reason
