Thanks to this, I went on a Doctor Who Youtube binge, to make up for being unable to watch the series. I found This to be rather enjoyable.GrahamKennedy wrote:Adam Savage and some tesla coils become the most awesome thing I have seen this year.

So on ship with 40 aircraft and a crew of 1600 that's taking 9 years to build while still being smaller then a Nimitz... Whats the point of this thing again?GrahamKennedy wrote:The new British aircraft carriers under construction. Awesome stuff, I just wish we would spend more money on defence over here...
It'll still vastly outclass anything short of a Nimitz/Ford, CdG or Kusneztov, and should be superior to the latter two. Moreover, a Ford costs less than 1% of the annual US defence budget and is still considered a very expensive piece of kit. It would cost more than 10% of the annual UK defence budget.Deepcrush wrote:So on ship with 40 aircraft and a crew of 1600 that's taking 9 years to build while still being smaller then a Nimitz... Even better - this time we'll be able to operate with them without breaking them.McAvoy wrote:Generally speaking, to have an aircraft carrier near the capabilities of a Nimitz class which they can operate with. That is what I vaguely remember about it.
Little? Did you read the bit about it being a more capable platform than anything but a Nimitz?Deepcrush wrote:For the cost of building and up keeping a ship of this size, considering how little it can provide, just doesn't seem like a wise choice.
