I hope that the changes they make will be for good reason, not just for dramatic effect, or for the sake of being re-imagined.

Infamy is fame for a negative reason. As in the quote you mention, which was part of an FDR address regarding the Japanese attack on Peral Harbor, calling Dec. 7, 1941 "a day that will live in infamy."
