I'll look at it this way, if it requires special effects to be a good movie, then it isn't a good movie.
If the effects are pretty, but the writing is crap, I'll hate it.

I doubt you'd meet with much success. Like I said earlier, Abrams is pretty great at keeping a lid on stuff like that.

You know the way CGI is going, 10 or 20 years from now you could probably keep the original actors and replace the entire background of every shot in TOS. New sets. New planets. New EVERYTHING.

Yes. Never seen it ( ), but that doesn't mean the guy can't act in a serious role. He's super-excited about it; they all are, and I think they'll all act their asses off, especially Zachary Quinto.

No it doesn't. It does mean that I cast his acting abilities in doubt though, not many comedy actors make good serious actors. I have no idea who Zachary Quinto is or what he's done before so that's not much help.
