That first one was like watching an alien discovery channel exclusive, "Watch now as the primitive man government reacts when its issues are threatened." lol

I think the girl was just plain stupid. She's my age, for goodness sake, and a college student. If I had been in her shoes, I would have refused. Perhaps my perspective is different because here in Croatia we're used to dealing with slimy politicians. Hell, the elections for the Sabor (our Parliament) are on the 25th of November, and the election campaign is at its peak. During its course I have seen the worst of human scum. I guess I've become desensitized to all that stuff.

We've got no shortage of them in the US, my friend. Many people believe that Ob-Wan's quote from SW:ANH actually referred to Washington, D.C.: "You will never see a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

They should play the cantina music during sessions. And of course, the Imperial March at the beginning and end of all sessions.

Yes, unfortunately. It was a pretty big disappointment for me when I realised that. In the communist era and during the war, America was, at least for us, a magic semi-legendary land with perfect democracy, no corruption, no poverty, etc. Of course, this may seem funny and naive to you now, but back then hope was all we had and Clinton, along with Pope John Paul II and German Federal Chancellor Helmuth Kohl, was a hero to us.

Well, as we say, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." I always had respect for the administrations of Thatcher, Kohl, Indira Gandhi, Meir, and Dayan, but it's naive to think that any political administration is free from, well, politics.

I would think so, just because of backlash. If the Senate was able to garner enough Republican votes to override a veto, then hopefully that indicates a reaction in the general public as well.

And if we do have a Dem pres, I pray that it will be Obama. If I were in Chicago, I would as they say "vote early and often."
