It makes perfect sense, the Athlon 2600+ runs at 2GHz. It's part of AMDs long term policy to lie about the speed of their CPUs.USSEnterprise wrote:That makes no sense...2.00 GHz, 512 MB of RAM
DDR Ram runs at about 267 to 400, DDR2 at 400 to 1066 and DDR3 at 1066 to 1600 at stock. (MHz)
Unless your talking about video ram...
Anyway,
Sounds like a driver or PSU problem...hmmm. Has the system ever been overclocked?

Yeah, I fail at reading, I thought he said his RAM was running at 2GHzIanKennedy wrote:It makes perfect sense, the Athlon 2600+ runs at 2GHz. It's part of AMDs long term policy to lie about the speed of their CPUs.USSEnterprise wrote:That makes no sense...2.00 GHz, 512 MB of RAM

Re: I got a new, used computer and been having problems
More info on the problem. The shortest time that I've seen it happen is just a few seconds after start up (after connecting to the internet and everything, it would just reboot on its own), and the longest was nine full hours after the last problem. Moderate time is around four hours. When it fails on the long times, the computer either freezes and the screen bumps up, or the monitor just shuts off saying its been disconnected, but the tower continues running.

Yeah, it sounds a lot like a PSU issue from that, I would say get a new one, probably about 500 or 600 W and you should be good.
