True enough, it looks pretty old so I'd make a wild guess it was the original HMS Enterprize, converted from the french ship L'Enterprise.

Well, I was actually reffering to their complete failure to include any of the Russian space achievments, but you're certainly correct there.

Didn't the include Russian achievements during the Mirror Universe trailor?
EDIT: No, they didnt. Although, there were a lot of things that seemed reminiscent of Russian/soviet etc. things. The Jet fighter looked a lot like a Mig-31 although it could be an F-15. The sub was the Konevalov, fictional Alpha-class attack sub from The Hunt For Red October. The tank also looked Russian, I THINK like a T-72 or T-80.

The jet is an F-15, and the tank is a T-90 (at least according to MA). The earlier tanks were Renault FT-17s.

Of course not - they named everything in Russian.

I find it funny they did a better job on the opening of the mirror universe episodes than they did for the regular opening. IMO though.

I liked some elements of the start but it didn't feel right for me. Whether it be the American centric start titles, be the vocal theme, just the very different styles (lack of starship beauty shots apart from the end) it didn't sit well with me for the opening theme.

I agree. A few things could have been changed here and there. I personally do not like the opening song. To me it seems too pop rockish.

The US-centric imagery was wrong, yes. Sputnik, Yuri Gagarin, Edmund Hillary among other things... but I loved the theme. It fit perfectly-and in a good way, too.

I don't see how the original opening sequence was American-centric. Because they showed the U.S.' space shuttle as opposed to... say, France's or Germany's?

No, because they didn't show either Sputnik or Gagarin - two of the four most important events in the space history of Trek (the other two, of course, being Apollo XI and the
Phoenix)
