Re: Archer's Worst Command Decisions
Thanks, Stitch.
Okay...
Being complacent in genocide by refusing a cure after he promised he would give it to them after finding it.
Revealing the existence of the P'Jem Vulcan listening post to the Andorians. Archer betrayed Earth's greatest - ONLY - allies to enemies who had invaded Vulcan territory,
Taking an untried ship and crew, whose weapons systems were not working, to take a Klingon home, into Klingon space.....
sending out Shuttlepod 1 without a way to contact them.
I'll be sending the list into the Kennedy's at 7 PM Eastern tonight. Thanks!

Re: Archer's Worst Command Decisions
I'd say making a non Starfleet officer (T'Pol) his first officer. How many times have we seen a Vulcan officer in command of an Earth ship? Not saying it didn't turn out well, but he bypassed his more qualified STARFLEET officers to put a NON STARFLEET officer in command of a STARFLEET ship.
Did that make sense?

The SF chain of command is pretty prone to odd choices, this might just have been the start of that.Mark wrote:I'd say making a non Starfleet officer (T'Pol) his first officer. True. Captains seems to have an insane degree of lattitude

Re: Archer's Worst Command Decisions
Indeed. It makes a certain sense, considering how far out of the way some of them might end up. Still, you'd think something like the chain of command would be a little more codified.Mark wrote:True. Captains seems to have an insane degree of lattitude

How about bringing his damned dog with him on a first contact mission?
I forget the episode title.

Oh, the one with the blue-skinned natty dreads, right? The dog pissed on their sacred tree or something IIRC.Tsukiyumi wrote:How about bringing his damned dog with him on a first contact mission?

Come to think of it, the dog might have made a better first officer than T'Pol.

T'Pol and Reed were the only reason the rest of the crew didn't kill themselves off on a regular basis.

T'Pol? Maybe, her decon scenes were a welcome distraction, but Reed? Serving with him would induce suicide, not prevent it.

I think Tyr was referring to preventing death through gross stupidity rather than suicide.

Re: Archer's Worst Command Decisions
Precisely. However insufferable Reed might have been he was still the most competent officer on the bridge. Though that's not saying much.

Archer brings his dog on a first contact mission, Porthos gets sick, Archer blames the aliens and threatens to piss on their sacred tree.
