Guys the contrast on my monitor is crap at the moment.

Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGNGZqCm3Ng

And then look at around 1:23 a ship swoops into fire at the borg cube. Looks to me like it could be an Akira fireing forward torps from the saucer. But as I said contrast is trash so it looks shadowy enough it could be a different ship.

in the video, the first volley is from the weapon pod, then from the underside of the saucer. thats whats in the screen cap below.

these were the only other pics i could find that may show the launchers... nothing very good...

That's an Akira alright, it seems to be firing torps from the rollbar pod.

Good work Omen! The screencap he added in his edit was what I was talking about (looks like 1:26 is what I should have told you guys). Looks pretty conclusive.

So I think the only question remaining is about the below-the-deflector tube.

Looks to me that graph shows only one item in the center hull and that's the nav. I didn't see anything to say that the hull has bow PTLs, sorry.

You can see the tubes between the nav and the shuttlebay firing in the youtube video.

I think the bump omen circled is the lower launcher in question. But the question is which way does it face? I'm partial to aft but I admit it could be fore

Looks like a foreward launcher to me, its more cylindrical towards the fore, and it spreads out a bit too much at the rear.

well, since the rest of the ships tubes are very forward biased, i would assume this one is also. plus the pattern of the hull plating around it indicates it would shoot forward... i dont think we can really prove it though, as far as i know, we have never seen it fire from there on screen.

Its a PTL alright, in the front of the saucer, above the nav!
