Re: Dark Heresy: Thinking Ahead
One stunt for those that use bolt or SP weapons, is getting the Fire selector option (page 142). It basically lets the character select ammo from one of three clips at a time.
But if all three clips are loaded with the same ammo, you can really have fun. This will add 20% of the gun's mass (a full clip masses 10% of the gun, again on page 142), plus the mass of the Fire Selector (.5 kg) to the gun's mass. You will likely not be able to quickdraw it either, but the ability to have three times as much firepower before you have to reload is useful. Reloading will take three times as long, but it also means you are still alive.
So a basic Autopistol normally has a clip of 18, takes a Full action to reload, masses 2.5 kg, and costs 75 Thrones.
A modified Autopistol has a clip of 3x18, takes three Full actions to reload, masses 3.5 kg, and costs 100 Thrones.
A tech-priest would be the perfect character to use one of these weapons, as she will be able to make the proper maintenance rituals.
These numbers are from the Dark Heresy Core Rulebook, 2008 printing.
Hmm, rereading the description it looks like it says up to three different clips added. Does this mean a total of 4 clips?

Pretty sure it's just three. You can also get duplex ammo clips (or just tape them together) that cuts reloads in half, so if you really wanted to be a dick you could have three taped to the other three and just flip them over.
Not sure what any of this has to do with where we go next but it's pretty cool.

Re: Dark Heresy: Thinking Ahead
So Mikey mentioned he was down for a Chem Dogs type mission. If anyone is interested in such a thing, post here. The Slaught themed campaign will still be ongoing as well.
Possible careers include:
-Guardsmen
-Commissar
-Arbites
-Rough Rider
-Ogryn
Naturally this will involve some tweaking of existing career paths.

1) Chem dogs?
2) Where do you find the Commissar, Rough Rider, and Ogryn path rules?
3) Can we start at a higher level perhaps?

Penal troops that wear a rebreather that pumps a bunch of mind altering chemicals into them.Lighthawk wrote:

I'll either have to make them up whole hog (like Ogryn) or tweak existing ones (Commissar and Rough Rider could use Guard rules with a different starting package). There is an alt career similar to Commissar in the hand book.2) Where do you find the Commissar, Rough Rider, and Ogryn path rules?
Yup.3) Can we start at a higher level perhaps?

Re: Dark Heresy: Thinking Ahead
As to question #2 - you don't. BONE'ead, though... Are we talking "instead of" a next mission with our Illumination chars? 'Cause I'd like to keep going until they're maxed or dead.

I'd love to play Ogryn twins...
Just the mix up between them would be fun to write for.

Re: Dark Heresy: Thinking Ahead
I agree with Mikey and Uzume. I'd like to keep going with our Illumination characters, and I'd like to be involved in the penal colony game.
I can't believe no one has made a "penal" joke yet.
Yes, I know it's not spelled the same way.

So is there anything specifically preventing the existence of a female commissar?

The Illumination campaign will continue as planned. This will run at the same time.
No, you can play a female one if you want.So is there anything specifically preventing the existence of a female commissar?

Re: Dark Heresy: Thinking Ahead
Well fortunately for me, someone on Dark Reign already created a path for Commissar and Ogryn, the later being limited to certain careers and having to spend extra on Int and Fel upgrades. Rough Rider can be handled by starting out with Wrangling.
