I agree about the Falcon, Mark. Iconic... but the cockpit placement...Mark wrote:Slave I (Boba Fett's ships)
I'll also go along with the X-wing and the Falcon (she's on of my favorite ships, but a HORRIBLE design FOR a ship I've got to admit)

Eclipse class SSD. Looks cool.
Executor class SSD.
Acclamator class... semi- Star Destroyer.
E-Wing. (The later EU practically forgot the E-Wing)

For the E-Wing, it just didn't really serve much of a purpose IIRC. There was nothing that the E-Wing could do that the B-Wing couldn't do better.
The E-Wing was a good idea but just not practical.

I dont suppose the Death Star counts as a ship? If so I vote for DS 2.0.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I believe that counts as a space station.

It has engines, so I'd count it as a ship.

Uh, the E-Wing wasn't a B-Wing replacement. It was supposed to be an A-Wing and X-Wing replacement. As fast as the A-Wing (or faster) yet as heavily armed and shielded as the X-Wing. Pilots loved them.Deepcrush wrote:For the E-Wing, it just didn't really serve much of a purpose IIRC. There was nothing that the E-Wing could do that the B-Wing couldn't do better.

A fast moving heavy fighter is still a heavy fighter. Fast maybe but also carried three cannon and sixteen PTs covered in heavy armor and shielding.SuperSaiyaMan12 wrote:Uh, the E-Wing wasn't a B-Wing replacement. They took everything they could and beefed it up. Thats the same thing they did with the B-wing which was just as good and cheaper.

Re: Favorite Designs: Ships
How was the B-Wing cheaper than the E-Wing? And the E-Wing is a space superiority fighter, while the B-Wing is a heavy fighter/bomber, the replacement for the Y-Wing.Deepcrush wrote:A fast moving heavy fighter is still a heavy fighter. The E-Wing was suppose to the the X-Wing's sucessor.

Frankly the E-Wing looked like a fan ship, and not a great one. A kitbashed X-Wing that wasn't exactly well thought out.

That on top of the high cost of Nav-Droids and overly complex flight systems.

And yet, what's the standard NR fighter during the Vong War? The X-Wing. Upgraded to the various XJ models, but the best pilots in the galaxy fly X-Wings.
