I've read that initially, Denise Crosby was going to be Troi and Marina Sirtis was going to be Yar. (And also that Riker and Troi were going to be partially modeled on Decker and Ilia from Phase II.)Mark wrote:I'm sorry, but she was miscast for the roll. Unfortunately, it happens. At least we only had one season of her instead of being force fed her for six more, and the movies as well.

Decker? Hmm. Might have been an interesting plot device if Riker was one of the contenders for Captain of the Enterprise D, only for it to be given to Picard at the last minute.Lazar wrote:And also that Riker and Troi were going to be partially modeled on Decker and Ilia from Phase II

Apparently the similarity is strongest in the first season, and then later they gave Frakes more freedom so we see Riker growing a beard, being jokier and liking jazz.kostmayer wrote:Decker? Hmm. Hmmm...Marina Sirtis as Yar. I would definitely volunteer for restraint demonstrations with her...Lazar wrote:I've read that initially, Denise Crosby was going to be Troi and Marina Sirtis was going to be Yar. There's also charging a machine gun emplacement with just swords, as the Klingons did.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:There's 'dumb' and then there was Sela here.Captain Seafort wrote:How do you think the Federation survives? Charging at armed, entrenched troops using spears worked out okay for the Zulu, though.

On another note, I have myself wondered just what made Pardek renege on many decades of friendship with Spock and betray him. Was he himself coerced or forced? His simple "jolan tru, Spock" and walk away was rather dissatisfying.

Yeah, I was thinking of this while watching too. My guess would be that he was pressured to do so by Tal Shiar or somethign?Captain Picard's Hair wrote:On another note, I have myself wondered just what made Pardek renege on many decades of friendship with Spock and betray him. Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?

Could you imagine the fight scenes with Mirina as Yar? Wow. Talk about a jiggle

the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,

But she'd be in a yellow uniform rather than a blue one and I know this might sound wierd but, there was something about her in that blue uniform that just wouldn't translate to any other colour...

Wouldn't shock me if the guy was just trying to earn points with the government.
