images, anyone?

Although I appreciate your write-ups, anyone could write down specs and history and call it a new class. If you were to include images, depictions of them in any way, it would be a whole lot more clear you'd put effort in them and as such the design would be more recognizable. Though this tactic might help if you'd post the images later, not to focus on aesthetical problems.

Not everyone has a good drawing ability though. (I sure as hell haven't!

Trust me, posting write-ups, specs and history only can be very aanoying in the end, especially if these ar not tought well out (I am NOT saying it is the case out here). ON another board it annoyed people a lot, and I can tell you, it will make things look bad. You see, write ups can be very interesting, but they can also be written by inserting certain 'keywords' into a 'machine' so you can churn out dozens of ships a day, without having images of them. THAT is not artwork.
However, this is a young board, not yet being overrun by n00bz, numbskulls or anything like them. Therefore, I leave this to rest, knowing I have said everything I wanted about this particular case.
And Judgeking, making specs, write-ups and history can be considered an art too. So far, you're doing just fine. however, remember that there is nothing wrong with trial and error.
http://scn.nov-net.com/index.php?topic=14.0 this might help you out quite a bit. loads of advice on starship designing. Look at the rest of the forum as well, if you wish. It should prove quite interesting to see the diversity.

I for one don't mind imagining what these ships might look like.

I don't have any problems with people giving data on the ships. As long as it makes sense and isn't over the top I'm happy.

Ok, when people make ships like that with a straight face then you'll have a point.

Unfortunately, I don't have any modelling and drawing programs on my computer.

MS Paint is available on nearly every computer. Although it is very basic, you can achieve quite some things. In fact, when you know where to get the right ingredients you can make some very nice designs. You see, this one was done by importing various colors from shipkits and a lot of patience. This is a WIP (Work In progress) which I am likely not to ever complete, but it shows what you can do with a basic program as paint.
Also, there are several free 3d programs to try and are more than sufficient to create a decent amount of quality.
Anim8or is located at
www.anim8or.com
Blender is located at
www.blender3d.com
POV_Ray is located at
www.pov-ray.org
All of these programs are free and can be learned, in time. I have seen people going from 'mere kitbashers' to decent 3d artists.

History: The Galaxy Class was refitted again in 2382 to make it more powerful in terms of speed, firepower, and scientific capabilities so Starfleet Corps of Engineers started with the Tactical systems. They then increased the top speed to 9.92 and increased the sensor capabilities to be on par with the Sovereign class sensors. Like the 2nd Sovereign refit, the Galaxy class got new Helium-3 Fusion Reactors which boosted power outpost 40%. The first ship of this refit was the USS Onimaru NCC-76890. The refit was dubbed a Battleship in terms of abilities and was quickly tested against a fleet of remote controlled Constellations. The Onimaru quickly decimated the test fleet. These ships also fought the Enterprise at the Tomed Incident in 2311 confirming what the Tal'Shiar said. History: The Hutet was designed to be a battleship that could be used to take on Heavy ships such as the Galaxy, Negh'var, D'deridex, and Sovereign. Research into Quantum Torpedo technology was quite successful to that end and by the end of 2370, they had a prototype ready for testing. In 2371, the 1st Hutet rolled off the line and went into service. In 2373, the Cardassian Union joined the Dominion and Hutet production went faster to help in the war. During the Dominion War, these ships easily defeated Klingon ships up untill the Battle of Betazed in which a few Hutets were destroyed by the Starfleet task force to liberate the planet from Dominion hands. By the end of the Dominion War, 9 of these ships had been destroyed out of 28 total. After the Dominion War, all Hutet production stopped and resources were sent to rebuilding planets in Cardassian borders. It will be some time before the Cardassians will be able to build these ships again.

They're stronger phasers that use Zero Point Energy in very miniscule amounts.
