The whole point of the thought experiment is that it actually isn't just a lack of knowledge. You'd expect it to be, because that's how the macro world works, but on a quantum level something really IS in both states at the same time. The SC is meant to show that the quantum world works really strangely and differently to what we expect.

Aye, it's one of those bizzare things that shouldn't make sense, but does.

Well, I've been observed, and I appear to be interactive... or have I been observed? I... guess. *Shrugs* I guess I'll always be a macro kind of a guy. The cat can either be alive or dead, but not both. Unless there's a gateway to a parallel dimension in there.
