Just for the record, they don't even put windows on a submarine. And on our space shuttles we get these TINY viewports. Again, for a VERY good reason. But then, this is Starfleet, so common sense doesn't really apply.

Submarines though have huge amounts of external pressure, much more than the atmosphere within.

Space shuttles have tiny ones b/c of the pressure of the atmosphere agais the vaccume which get's harder to contain the larger the window, which is why their developing the plasma windshield

I still think the ST windows are beyond the tech we have today

Force field windows are canon - see FC. As to windows on a sub - why would you have one, even if you had materials resistant to the pressure? Modern subs routinely cruise at depths at which visibility is negligible.

Of course they are. IIRC, they're some sort of transparant steel.
Despite that, they're still weak points, and provide no advantage.

My feelings may change, but I'm not really crazy about how the Kelvin looks. It just looks like someone got drunk and made an upside down Connie and forgot the second nacelle.
