Yeah, so did I. I cringed when it came on in the movie.

now that was a great episode! those aliens were pretty freaky!
I remember watching that for the first time a long ago, and that was along with one other episode of TNG the only ever episodes to actually scare me - the other being that one where Doctor Crusher turns into her grandma and this alien-ghost seduces her. They really did scare me. Mind you I was probably only about 5 or 6, I watched them since and they didn't quite have the same effect...
Like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, just doesn't really scare me anymore knowing I'm probably bigger and stronger than him

Favourite ST aliens are definitely the Borg. I don't watch/read any other Sci-fi (unless Lord of the Rings count), so I'm a bit stuck.

Then allow me to recommend Red Dwarf. Or Warhammer 40,000, which makes Trek look like a cat poncing around in a funny hat. Think Star Wars on steroids.

Hey, it's my first overall post...

The aliens from Aliens are far and away the best aliens in flim or tv. Single minded, fast, strong, not remourse, no feelings, can live in anything, acid blood, the interior mouth... It doesn't get any better than that.

Welcome to DITL. :)

I'll see your Aliens and raise you Daleks - pitiless, remorseless, unified, close to indestructable, and they conquered the entire universe at one point.

Thanks for the welcome.

I see your point, but they just don't do it for me. Plus, they are annoying "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE" Shut up, lool. Plus, they have technology. Aliens (Xenomorphs, which is the "correct" term?) are just primal.

Okay, I will use the correct term from now on. If anyone sees errors in other names that I use, let me know.

xenomorph just means strange shape/form, so technically i could be classed as one lol!!
The creep factor about them, to me, at least, was the crystalline teeth, hissy rasping breath, total lack of discernible eyes, inner mouth like a grotesque charicature of a dragonfly nymph and the acid in lieu of blood, that could melt bulkheads like butter

Welcome to DITL, Jim. :)

I'll point out though, that 'xenomorph' is simply a fancy word for 'alien'. So, technicaly any non-human creature could be classed as a xenomorph in sci-fi.

Agreed, hence my question. To use Alien (with a capital A), "Alien" (in quotes) Xenomorph (with a capital X), maybe Geiger Alien?

They all work for me... but I didn't know if there was an "accepted" term.

*shrug*
Use any term you like. I tend to call them 'the aliens from Alien'. As long as people understand what you mean, there's no real problem with what you call them.
