He is correct, the deflector is set on the bottom of the ship. Not on a rollbar like the Steamrunner, but is still on the bottom.

I based my beliefe that this was the Steamrunner on his suspended under the ship part, to me the Saber's Dish isn't suspended, where as the Steamrunner is but hey either way it doesn't really matter.

Like I said it doesn't matter really. I like both ships. It is unfortunate that we didn't get more information, even the models were low quality and to my knowledge have never been improved. The Norway could be lumped into this category as well I suppose.

Now, the Norway was an odd little ship. I sort of like the aerodynamic (warp-dynamic?) shape, but it looks so damned fragile.

I liked it, in a society as diverse as the UFP and ultimately Starfleet there should be some general variations in design. I like that these ships don't have the standard Saucer & Engineering sections, they are all together and it sets them apart nicely. It is also nice to see that they don't rely on a few designs but do have others which may or may not have worked out. Any future Trek, should it be set within the near future should at least make passing reference to these ships and hopefully give some basic idea as to their specs/capabilities and such.

The Norvay never liked it. It looks strange. What is with the seperated hull. Its just wrong.

I like it. It looks odd, but not bad.

It's nice to see some of the more "unconventional" designs that have come out in the later movies/DS9. All of them look interesting, the steamrunner being the coolest (and also the one with the coolest class name 8) ) despite the engineering complications of her design.

The Norway may be the least "interesting" design of the three, aside from the split hull, but is still nice to look at. I like the idea of the Norway being a ship from a member race brought into Starfleet's diplomatic wing as a light courier/diplomatic envoy... she just has that kind of look about her, IMO. As to what this kind of ship would be doing in battle, I can only speculate that Starfleet threw every available ship at the Borg.

Does the New Orleans class count as a new one? Cause I think that design is pretty ugly and unispired.

I believe the first New Orleans class sighting was in the BoBW graveyard at Wolf 359. It looks like something between a Galaxy and an Ambassador, except a tenth the size of either Seems to predate the Galaxy in Trek time (as do the other three according to DITL, IIRC)

It certainly seems to be a older looking design.

The New Orleans class looks like the frigate or light cruiser of the early TNG era (or maybe even a little older).
About the saber, the steam and the norway I like them a lot. I am sure that the steam and the saber are battle oriented ships and probably one of these classes (or maybe both ) are replacing the good old Miarandas... The norway could be a battle oriented ship as well (I always put pulse phasers on the Norway class when I played SFC3 and it was cool!) but then again who knows, we have only seen that ship once...

I dont think the Saber is a warship, it seems very lightly armed. The others arent that powerful either.

It strikes me as more of a medium-range patrol ship, personally.
