Trying to figure out whats the issue. We are talking about billions of years. That's alot of time. Alot of zeros in that. To squeeze something in.

Long time ago doesn't have to mean it was 500 million years ago or even five million years ago. It could have been 50,000 years ago on any galaxy as mature or even younger than the Milky Way. Or 100,000 years. A minuscule time frame for the universe, but a ton of time for a race of intelligent people.

I'll toss out a possible contrary view...
Our galaxy is moving, so long long ago, it was far far away..

Also, at least one place name, Fornax, is an Earth named constellation.
