Thanks guys, all of you. As much as people say everyone on the internet sucks, I can honestly say that all you guys are great people, we have our moments, but overall, good people definitely.

I have thrown in the towel. After various and sundry herbicides, mowing down to the stem, even hoeing and patching over with a fescue/bluegrass/ryegrass mix, I have decided to declare the southern quarter of my back yard to be a privately-sanctioned ground ivy preserve. I now plan to dedicate my efforts to eradicating any stray grass that happens to grow there.

However, I scored a minor moral victory with other plantings. Wifey wanted nothing but petunias and pansies in front of our shrub bed, but I managed to include a couple scarlet begonias. Special psychedelic cookie award for anyone who knows why I would want scarlet begonias.

Ground Ivy is hard to get rid of. The best I have see that works is tilling the ground where it is. But it is still hit or miss.

He's just done the halfway through college exams. A levels (the qualification needed to get into university) are done in two halfs, AS and then A2. They together make an A level. Hes just finished AS level exams.

Congratulations. I'm only just nearing my final GCSE.

Media GCSE. I know the stigma that's attached with it but my school did early entry for english. They basically thought "eff it, let's do that!".

Still, GCSE's pale in comparison.

My new boss was recently promoted into his position. He asks me questions and listens to my advice.

AI might finally be able to get a job soon. My mother is...erm..."Putting the word in" at her branch of Argos down in Titchfield. The management all know me reasonably well and so far trust me a lot so I'm hoping this could be the break I've been looking for. It's not great pay and weekend hours are SHORT but it's a foot in the door, and in the current climate that's a reaaal bonus.
