Precisely why the Rebel fleet attacked when it did, as it was a once in a lifetime oppotunity, even if it was orchestrated by the emperor. Since he planned the attack as a trap from the start...doesn't that make it his fault the DSII was destroyed?

Absolutely, although the plan as a whole was a pretty good one - it was the arrogant stupidity of the details that cost the Empire the battle.

One or two little things and the Empire would've been eternal...

Han not stepping on that twig which led to Leia being picked up by the Ewoks would have meant the shield would have stayed up. Lando would have still insisted the fleet stay and make a fight of it, and most of them would have been wiped out.

The Ewok's were possibly an understandable oversight, but the Empire should have made triple sure that the Shield Generator was adequately defended.

"Looks like the rebels are trying to cross our two-kilometer 'dead-zone' surrounding the bunker. Shall we have some target practice?"

"Dibs on the princess!"

Then the Ewoks would have been able to burrow like gophers on steroids, despite being an arboreal race. :?

Indeed. Any number of minor deviations from what we saw happen would have meant the compete destruction of the Rebel Alliance at Endor.

Fully agreed. There was no reason that the Rebel Alliance won the Battle of Endor Moon. However, as shown a battle's outcome is as easily changed by the commanders actions as it is by the men on the ground.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Exactly. The Empire's defeat was down to a number of small problems that, if even one had been changed, could have prevented the loss at Endor.

Which is one of the reasons star wars isnt really one of my favourite franchises. I think most use it, but not to the same extent as SW. There is a very heavy reliance on a specific set of parameters, if just one is minutely out, your fucked. It all seems very fantastic....

You could say the same thing about any franchise.

This is true I guess. Somehow SW seems less believable than others....but maybe thats just me.

It's the Force. Having a semi-sentient possibly sapient energy field will do that for you. ;) :Q

Or about life really, if you change one single thing, the outcome can be completely different. If anyone has seen the butterfly effect, you know what I mean, you meeting someone could change a lot of things.
