Also, the aft section is too small. Even with a strong SIF, it would be subject to a lot of metal fatigue and unwanted stress during movement.
I actually prefer the new ramscoop because it's actually a
scoop instead of a glowing dome. A little touch of realism.

Sorry, I had to.
I agree completely.

I always saw the "glowing disco ball" as a semipermeable substance, so that things they don't want in the nacelle doesn't get there.
This just looks ugly... IMO.

The shuttle in the red circle looked like it was part of the ship too. But now that you point it out, I guess in IS a shuttle.

It's definitely a shittle.

The new design is growing on me, she looks pretty good. I don't really care for the white interior though.

I don't know about the chrome finish, but I also agree that the collectors look like they should be able to collect something. And since they are chrome, I guess we can now say that the Enterprise got rizzies.

Newp. Not much was made of it at the time, and not a lot of people ever realised it... but if you have ever chanced to see the cinematic masterpiece that is
Barb Wire, it's plot is a direct lift from Casablanca.

Ah, the literary classic Barb Wire. Am I alone in thinking that it would have been a far better film without dialogue?

There was dialogue? I hadn't noticed.

I'm a lot more forgiving of remakes/reboots since Battlestar Galactica. And I'm gonna watch this with a reasonably open mind, I hope. I'm almost looking forward to the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still now - they might pull it off, and if its terrible it won't detract from the original.
But dammit, an Edge of Darkness? - It'd better be damn good.
But going back to Trek - I like the TOS era ships, and would love to see a decent film or three set in that period. I just don't like the shiny bridge.

Agreed on the NuBSG thing. I regard it as being streets ahead of the original in just about every way. If the new movie can do half as good, I'd even be willing to see the ultimate blasphemy - a remake of TOS.
