No, but its the best theory I've heard and I haven't heard anyone disprove it yet.

Well, maybe if the shield harmonics were set perfectly, they might bounce.
I doubt ships would bounce off each other in any circumstance.

KE is still KE. It has to go somewhere. If the KE couldn't hit the other ship's hull, then the force would be transferred to the shield, and thus to the generator itself. In which case it's quite possible the shield generator would simply be torn out of its mounting.

OR, force the other ship away.

But if the shields are impacting, then there's going to be some serious fuck ups among the internal equipment from all the stress put on them.
One minute the ship is moving forward at 50m/s, next second it's getting shoved backwards at 50m/s. That's not good for the ship.

I'd imagin it would blow the shield generators. But Rocheys idea of the generators being ripped from the ship is an amusing visual.

Inertial dampeners would compensate for some but obviously not all of the change.

The ship rocks everytime something impacts the ship with little momentum. It ain't gonna stop the effects of two ships hitting each other at speed.

Inertial dampers are only proactive to things that the ship knows will happen. I.e., they prevent you from getting knocked down during a banking maneuver, because the computer knows that said maneuver is about to happen. When you're ship gets hit with weapons fire, for example, the bridge crew still falls down because the inertial dampers don't fare so well at being reactive. The dampers wouldn't be able to help until after the fact in the event of a shield-on-shield impact.

Could that mean that they might even make things worse? If two ships collide, you get a massive change in inertia, throwing everyone about the ship. Then the ID kicks in, maybe mid flight for a crewman, and arrests their momentum to a dead stop very quickly. Maybe they should turn that bad boy off and use seatbelts in combat instead.

Those ships make some pretty tight turns, I wouldnt want to be in one with out dampeners.

No i'd rather there was Inertial dampeneres. Think about it. I believe some ships make complete axis rotations. Without inertial dampeners, your gonna be riding on the ceiling.

Without the dampeners you would be turned into a nice red spatter the moment the ship changed speed. Humans start to black out after only a few Gs so getting rid of them would not be a good plan. They should have some type of manual restraint as well though, not for everyday use but in a fight you should have it.

I'd rather there be dampners and seatbelts. Redundancy is your friend.

Your other friend is when ROCHEY KEEPS UP WITH THE RP!

P.S.
Seatbelts save lives... you must wear your seatbelt... the governement is your friend, trust them like you do a seatbelt. It may hurt sometimes, but in the end its for your own good.... :happydevil:
