There's no evidence that I know of, I think there was a TNG episode but I don't know for sure. I usually fall asleep to those. Anyway they have the technology to counter KE attacks, so for what possible reason couldn't they adapt it for their drones?

This would be the most likely of answers. That and the only thing outside of force fields that can stop KE is armour.
