Isn't that a Vortex warhead? With a Nova Bomb being just a large explosive (possibly a bunch of daisy chained plasma/magma bombs).

The Vortex warhead causes a small warp storm in real space. A nova bomb breaches the real space/warp barrier (the larger the bomb the bigger the barrier breach), when the breach closes the energy acts like an A-Bomb but with raw power from the warp and the shock wave spreads like a nove. The Nova Cannon on a starship in 40k does something like it just on a smaller scale.
