Sudden Death
Re: Sudden Death
Just checked again, and it appears that the forum can be open at the same time as the SD.
Hope this isn't a problem.

Just out of curiousity, if you opened IE in one window and say Firefox in the other, would the cheating system still catch you? Not sure how that thing works.

Yes, they saved the painted glass bits for planet-side backgrounds.

Re: Sudden Death
True enough. As an example of their FX, the original designer of the Planet Killer reportedly remarked upon seeing the realization of his project: "it looks like a windsock dipped in cement." He was told: "It is a windsock dipped in cement, we ran out of budget." (or something along those lines---i forget where I read it. It may have been "the art of star trek")Mikey wrote:Yes, they saved the painted glass bits for planet-side backgrounds.

Re: Sudden Death
The whole site? It started off around the mid 90s. Back then it was called the "Starship Reference Pages" and consisted of about ten pages I put together on my home computer. We built it up from there.Mark wrote:Hey Graham, how long did it take you guys to compile all of this data?

Re: Sudden Death
Guys, I'm truely STAGGARED by the amount of effort you put into this place. I started visitng the site in late 2000, when I was looking for a site with some ship stats on the Prometheus. (By the way, what ever happened to your complete breakdown of each individual ship section?) And I never left

Re: Sudden Death
Sudden death WILL catch you if you use two web browsers on one machine, it WILL catch you on two different machines if you are on an ADSL line or similar, ie if you are behind a router that uses Network address translation (NAT). It can't stop you if the machines have different IP addresses (as far as the server can tell). The only way we could stop that is to have everyone who comes to the site login, which we wouldn't do.

Well, Teaos said he'd found a way. Maybe someone else did too.
