Why not go a step at a time, Striker?

Let her move back east and in with you.....then you can both save money to move to wherever she wants to go, if you wanna go too?

That... is mostly the plan. A step at a time with us. And yeah, I'll follow her anywhere. :D

I can't stand texting. If you are sarcastic and or joking with anyone while testing, most of the time you spend about two or three texts explaining. That and unlike talking over the phone or in person, you can do stuff at the same time. Like drink heavily.
Thats what emoticons are for.

Anyone having trouble logging in? I tried from my work computer and got a message that I had exceeded my log in attempts on the first try. Then I couldn't read the captcha. :(

I had that earlier when I was at school. Dad's had a rather good idea for when I'm 17. We're looking at the moment at buying me and him a town run about so we can save on fuel for the Focus...but we are looking at a 1960's classic. The idea being that the insurance is like £1100 than any other normal small car AND Its tax exempt. Something like a Moggy Minor would be so simple me or dad could repair it ourselves.

A group of kids decided to pick a fight in the hallway outside my fifth period class. Some kid was bugging another much smaller kid, to which the smaller kid's friend stepped up to fight in his place.

I was fine with it until they tried to run from me. Then one of the kids I dragged back lied to our administrator about trying to run. They also cost me a coffee break which annoyed me.

On the plus side of today I got an email from a parent thanking me for working with her son. That makes two in one week on top of the award I got in January.

Who won the fight? I'm assuming no one.

Dumbasses. Only cowards try to start a fight somewhere they know it will be broken up.

A, I won.

B, they didn't try to fight when I broke it up... they tried to run. Though I do give credit to the one kid who was sticking up for his friend. We had to give him a detention for disrupting call time though we somehow "lost" the slip afterwards.

Well, with all the detentions that get handed out. I'm sure the higher ups won't mind one or two missing from time to time.

I think not. And while you can't technically allow any kids to fight in school, it does seem a shame to punish one who only got involved by trying to be a decent, stand-up guy for his friend.

Well I manage to earn myself my first phone home detention today. One of only...4 detentions of any sort (10 minute non-phone mostly. phoned ones are half an hour) in my entire school life. Simply put, our statistics....instructing member of staff, he isn't worth being called a teacher, started balling and screaming because we apparently required "spoon-feeding" and were "utterly incapable for a top-set maths group". Well, I'd had it at that point and hit the roof. I realise, it wasn't the best thing to have done, but when this man has the gall to call us incompetent when his version of teaching is copying from a text book onto a white board, in shorthand so no-one understands it, and then expecting us to learn it (I kid you not) I think there is a problem.

Fortunately, the headteacher agrees with me and is wavering it.

I'm more familiar with detention than I'd care to admit, but what is a "phone-home detention" (barring all the silly E.T. jokes, of course?)

Most of our detentions are simple come back for a 10 minute chat after school. If you're bad enough to warrant a recorded detention, its 30 minute detention and a phone call home to inform parents of the problem. If you go worse than that, you get a SLT detention (Senior leadership Team, sitting in with the headmaster or deputy headmaster and student support) for an hour. I had a 30 minute detention.

Wow. My 6-year-old daughter already had a week of what you describe as "30-minute detention." During lunchtime, she was segregated and not allowed to enjoy recess.
