That sucks, Reliant. :( And... yeah, that sounds illegal, what the school's doing.

Hope you can stay in touch with him, there.

Is that legal? It's distasteful at the very least.
It would depend on how specific the discrimination laws are. If they specify things like gender, race, age, ect. there is a good possibility that sexual orientation isn't included.

Well, there's a word for what you do when laws are unjust and oppressive. I'm unsure how legal it is to say in the UK, but it starts R... E... B... E...

And, I imagine everyone can fill in the rest.

Knowing Tom, his threat to "Do something the school would VERY much not like on the last day" isnt too hollow.

May I suggest a large amount of alka-seltzer in the water system? A huge poster of two guys kissing would also be rather funny, given the circumstances.

I'm sure both he and I can come up with the kissing poster.

Geez, I'm at a school owned by a religious order and they don't seem to give a damn about it. :?
Hell, there's plenty of gay/bi students here who aren't that bothered about hiding it, and neither staff nor students seem to care.

-Sigh- I told him to take it to an authority of some kind, not sure what it would be though. but he didnt want the hassle.

The schools excuse was "it was going pro-christian". I thought you only got the special religious rule exemptions if it was a Registered religious academy. Its not, its a state school.

So, apparently, America also doesn't have a monopoly on religious fundamentalism either. I just assumed, by everyone's surprised reactions at the "state of affairs" over here that the UK was somehow... better. Huh.

I'm sure you can survive, Reliant - the father of a girl I once dated offered to buy her a car if she quit seeing me. The man who did that is now my father-in-law.

Actually, once I cut my hair, got a job, and generally cleaned up, I became the favorite son-in-law.
