I've been getting the feeling that bashing the first movie and this one has suddenly become the cool thing to do.

Oh, the first one was retarded and this one probably is too but I don't watch a show based off a toy line to see deep philosophical discussion. I watch it to see shit get broken and blown up.

Exactly.

Frame your expectations appropriately.

Yeah, I'm quite sure that the original TV series was just as... childish. But thats the point. Its about alien robots that transform. Its about "cool" not drama and dialogue.

BTW, some Black political groups are now calling for a boycott of the movie because of the twins being black stereotypes.

I believe that their problem is that they act black, whatever that means.

The only legitimate complained I've heard from friends is that the number of sexual jokes and innuendos were unnecessary and detracted from the story.

How do you have sexual jokes in a movie mostly about genderless bots... they are genderless right?

I don't think they're genderless. The autobots in the first movie are definitely masculine.

So... gendered personalties. Unless they actually reproduce like us...

I highly doubt they do, they may however split apart pieces of them and combine them to make an all new bot, hmm...
and how does the alllspark work exactly, I mean, why does it make them bad, or does it just make them un-oriented in side, and usually don't know what to do?

Yes there are a lot of sexual innuendos/jokes in this, mostly between Sam and Mikaela...yes the Transformers have genders...there are female autobots in this one (Arcee), and I've wondered why that is too that every time a new robot is created it automatically goes apesh*t. My guess is that the robots are like the first of their race, similar to Neanderthals or similar aged Cromagnon humans...they don't have the cognitive ability to pick a side, their just trying to survive...that or their like infants and that's their version of a temper tantrum.

That's what I thought, and it's a lot easier to make a child keep going crazy than to make them calm down...

Yeah, I've seen a six-year old tantrum... not easy to settle.

And very easy to keep going.

that's one of my theories, of course then again that doesn't explain why the autobots kill them rather than "raise" them.

Like the Energizer Bunny. Very different from the playboy bunny, or the Arctic Hare, or...

So, I like the orchestration for the films.
